What is Positive Behaviour Support?
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is an evidence-based therapy with a primary goal of increasing a person’s quality of life and decreasing the frequency and severity of behaviours of concern.
How does Positive Behaviour Support work?
Positive Behaviour Support understands that a persons behaviours of concern (BOC) serve a function and communicate important information to us. Behaviour Support Practitioners work with the participant to try and discover the function of a behaviour (why they are doing this behaviour) and any unmet needs that the person may be attempting to fulfil. BOC are often influenced by a person’s environment and so we investigate possible triggers and provide solutions and strategies to help minimise the BOC.
